The Senhor da Pedra Chapel is located in Praia de Miramar, municipality of Vila Nova de Gaia, district of Porto.
It was built on a rock by the sea in 1686.
It is believed that the origin of the cult in the Chapel of Senhor da Pedra may have its origin in an ancient pagan cult, of naturalistic character, of pre-Christian peoples, diluting divinities that were venerated in full nature, having been later converted to Christianity.
The pilgrimage to Senhor da Pedra is one of the most traditional in both Vila Nova de Gaia and the parish of Gulpilhares. It takes place annually on the beaches of Senhor da Pedra, on the Sunday of the Holy Trinity, and continues until the following Tuesday.
